Disclaimer: The review below is not sponsored by the brand mentioned. I bought this watch out of my own savings from my Atomic Habits tracker jar as mentioned in my previous blog.
As I write this review, my Huawei Band 9 is strapped to my wrist, tracking my health metrics while the timer counts down ten minutes—the perfect time for my pasta to cook. I’m preparing carbonara for my kids, squeezing in this review while they’re still asleep, before I get busy chopping ingredients.
Somewhere in our condo, my phone is misplaced—again. Instead of searching aimlessly, I simply ping it using my watch. A few seconds later, the words “I’m here” from a disembodied voice of my phone, leads me straight to it, just a few meters away. Crisis averted.
It’s 5:30 AM, my favorite time of day. The scent of freshly brewed coffee fills the air, breakfast is simple yet comforting, and these quiet moments allow me to write, read, or paint while waiting for food to cook. Occasionally, I glance at my watch—not just to check the time, but to appreciate how seamlessly it integrates into my daily routine.
I talked about this watch in the blog below where I cited my reasons for getting one and how I was able to afford it through Atomic Habits system:
The Huawei Band 9 is a fitness tracker designed to support your health and wellness goals while primarily serving as a watch and a partner device to your phone. Here’s an overview of its key features, summarized from Huawei website through ChatGPT:

The Huawei Band 9 is compatible with both Android and iOS, making it accessible to a wide range of users. I currently have it paired with my two-year-old Google Pixel 6A, and it works seamlessly. The Huawei Health app is particularly useful for customizing the watch, offering a vast selection of free watch faces to choose from. My favorite customization feature, however, is the ability to set my own photos as the watch face, adding a personal touch.Another thoughtful design element is the interchangeable straps, allowing you to replace them when worn out. I also appreciate the improved locking mechanism, as older models I’ve seen relied on rings—often the first thing to break on my previous watches. Huawei has clearly refined the design for better durability and ease of use.
I can say with absolute confidence that the Huawei Band 9 is my best bang-for-the-buck purchase of 2025 so far. It’s packed with features, and while I haven’t explored all of them yet, the ones I do use are more than enough for my daily needs. From tracking my sleep patterns and heart rate to finding my phone with a quick ring, controlling my phone’s camera remotely, and setting timers and alarms, this watch seamlessly integrates into my routine. It even doubles as a flashlight when needed.I’ve also enabled notifications for messages, social media, and emails, ensuring I stay updated even when my phone is out of reach—whether I’m cooking, working, or taking care of my kids. I also like that it gives me notification if I get a call or if I’m listening to music, I can skip a particular song or decrease/increase the volume. If you catch me dancing, I’m probably listening to a music I like! The best part about HB9 is its affordability. I got this watch for only 1, 899 PhP or ~32 USD. For something so cheap, it’s amazing how it’s packed with features that are at par with more expensive counterparts. Should You Buy One?
If you’re looking for a feature-packed fitness tracker on a budget—or simply not ready to splurge on a high-end model just yet—then the Huawei Band 9 is an excellent choice. While there are more premium-looking options out there, I believe the HB9 delivers the essentials that busy people like me truly need, all at an affordable price.
In fact, I love it so much that I’m considering getting one for my whole family! My kids even watched the video above and immediately said, “We want one too!”

✅ This was a fun read — I got the Band 9 too and laughed at how proud I was for “accidentally” closing all my rings by pacing on calls 😅 What surprised me most was how it made my Atomic Habits routines way easier to track without overthinking it.
Using Archetype6, I figured out I’m more of a “Builder” type — so that simple, visual nudge from the Band + a shared tracker in the A6 group made a huge difference.

Anyone else find step counts oddly reassuring? Or is that just my inner golden retriever?

Hello! Thank you for dropping by and sharing your thoughts about the same product. Yes, step counts is indeed oddly reassuring, I thought it was only me. It made me feel like I accomplished something even if it’s just a few thousands of steps that don’t even reach my target (sometimes!). Your inner gold retriever should be friends with mine! haha!
