A Milestone Achieved: My First Publication as Principal Author

Hello, my dear readers! If you’ve been following my journey, you might know that I recently completed my MSc in Geology. As part of the program, I was required to submit a paper for publication after successfully defending my thesis—a nerve-wracking but rewarding experience.

Yesterday, I received the most wonderful news: our paper has been accepted for publication! 🎉 It feels like Christmas came early this year, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

While I’ve been fortunate to co-author a few articles in local publication and conference proceedings throughout my geology career, this marks a special milestone—it’s the first time I’m the principal author of a research work in a respectable international journal with great impact factor. Knowing that my thesis work contributes, even in a small way, to the field of science is incredibly fulfilling.

While I can’t reveal the journal or the title of my paper just yet as it’s still in production, I’m excited to share my hope that this work demonstrates how traditional microscopy methods in geology can be enhanced through the application of machine learning.

I also sincerely hope that scientists in the geothermal industry will find value in this study, perhaps even replicate and build upon it. The use of machine learning in petrography is still a relatively new frontier, but it holds immense potential.

My wish is that this work inspires more researchers to explore the integration of machine learning and image analysis in their own fields. As a passionate enthusiast of this approach, I look forward to seeing how this emerging synergy can further advance geological studies and beyond.

To those who’ve supported me through this journey—thank you! This accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible without your encouragement and guidance. Here’s to celebrating small victories and continuing to grow in the pursuit of knowledge! 🌍✨

xoxo,
